Calcite PH Correction Media -  (American Made) 

Calcite is crushed and screened white marble material which can inexpensively be used to neutralize acidic or low PH water to neutral non-corrosive effluent.

Acidic waters on contact with the calcite slowly dissolve the calcium carbonate media to raise the PH which effectively neutralizes the potential leaching of copper and other metals found in typical plumbing systems. Periodic backwashing will prevent packing and maintain high service rates. Depending on PH and service flow, the Calcite bed will have to be periodically added to as the dissolved calcite depletes. As the calcium carbonate neutralizes the water, it will increase hardness and a softener may become necessary after the neutralizing filter.

* Please note that this is just a guide, in situations with very low PH or other extenuating circumstances more calcite and/or a large vessel may be required.
