The Leak Alarm is designed to create a loud audiable signal/alarm to notify you of a leak before you may actually see it, which can help to prevent potential damage from the leak.
The Leak alarm is ideal for any situation where there is a potential for leaks, including Under the counter filter systems, fridges, dispensers, aquariums, or any other indoor applications with water.
The Leak Alarm uses 9V batteries, and will "beep" repeatedly to notify you that the battery is low and needs to be replaced.
How does it work?
The Leak Alarm is designed to be placed on a flat surface or inside a drip "Tray".
The Leak has three electrical "probes" which are located on the bottom on the unit.
When water flows between the electical "probes" it creates conductive link for electricity to flow between them, which in turn sets off the audio alarm on the unit.
Keep in mind
- When placing the audio alarm it is important to ensure that you do not cover it or "muffle" it in anyway, otherwise you may not hear it when the alarm goes off.
- It is important to test and check the unit every 6 months or so, to ensure that the battery is not flat. The easiest way to do this is to take the alarm, and place it on a flat surface with a very shallow level of water. If the alarm goes off the unit is fine, if it does not then the battery is flat and needs to be replaced.
- The Leak Alarm is not designed for outside use as weather conditions (such as a rain & dew) can cause false alarms, also you may not hear it if its installed outdoors.
