Polymeric Acidic Cleaner for Utilities and RO Membranes

H5103 is a synergistic blend of neutralized phosphonates, polymeric dispersants, and sequestrants that will safely remove corrosion products in the forms of aluminum, iron, manganese, etc. as well as carbonate hardness salts of calcium and magnesium from utility systems and reverse osmosis filter membranes. It can be used in either open, chilled, or hot water loops with a low risk of excessive corrosion during the cleaning process.  H5103 can safely be used with types of metals that will be encountered in these systems. In addition, H5103 will not adversely affect any type of rubber or elastomer that may be present.

    Dosage Strategy and Control range
The dosage of H5103 will vary depending on the amount and type of deposit in the system. It is normally recommended that H5103 be diluted to a pH of no less than 2.0. For membrane cleaning of polyamide or cellulose acetate types, the 1% - 5% solution (pH should be around 2.0) should be recirculated through each pass for a period of 30 to 60 minutes depending upon the degree of contamination. In cases of heavy metal deposit fouling, soaking for a period of up to 12 hours may be required. A recirculation flow rate of  2.5m3/hr to 10m3/hr will be required for 4” and 8” membrane sizes respectively.

For utility cleaning, H5103 should be diluted with warm water to give a solution of the desired strength. The solution temperature should be kept below 600C to obtain the lowest corrosion rate. Cleaning is more rapid if the solution is kept warm and this is recommended. The cleaning solutions should be circulated to provide more uniform cleaning and ensure that all areas are exposed to adequate concentrations of H5103. Once the cleaning is complete the system should be immediately flushed, neutralized, and treated.

    Hazard Info / Handling Precautions
Avoid contact with skin, eyes, or clothing. If skin comes into contact with H5103 wash with water. If eyes are affected,
flush with water for at least 15 minutes and get medical attention.
